ILT Energia stands out in the industrial sector for its production of hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen generators and technical gas treatment systems. For more than 40 years in the industry, the company continues to bring to the market state-of-the-art solutions that aim at environmental sustainability and the promotion of renewable energy.

Electrolyzers in Industrial Applications for a Sustainable Future

The company has always been committed to reducing environmental impact in industrial processes such as braze welding, controlled atmosphere heat treatments, glass processing and many others. In fact, ILT generators, not only provide a clean, efficient and high-quality source of gas, but it also offer significant benefits in terms of reduced transportation and storage costs associated with the use of cylinders, as well as increased workplace safety through on-site low-pressure production.

Revolutionary projects from the past…

In addition to applications in industry, ILT Energia’s commitment to placing Green Hydrogen as a key solution in the decarbonization process is not just an aspiration, but a reality demonstrated by innovative and pioneering projects such as the one implemented in 2008 in the village of Vestenskov, Denmark. Here, ILT provided a micro-cogeneration plant that uses hydrogen generated by its electrolyzers by taking the necessary energy from a wind farm. The resulting power is used to power fuel cells in residential settings, providing sustainable electricity and heat for the village’s housing units.

… to the future!

Today, the company is advancing further in the area of sustainability with an ambitious project to recover hydrogen produced during the testing phase of electrolyzers (currently a real luxury waste) that will be reused in various forms for internal production processes and in the company’s transportation and handling logics. In numbers, we are talking about 60,000 Nm^3/year of pure hydrogen, corresponding to about 180,000 ℎ (LHV), equivalent to the average annual electricity consumption of about 130 people living in the province of Pisa. Currently, the generators being tested draw electricity from the grid, and the hydrogen, once produced, is dispersed into the atmosphere. The project includes the installation of a photovoltaic system on the plant’s large roof for the production of 100% green hydrogen. The gas obtained during the testing phase will be led to a section of the company used for the compression and storage phase. From there, the final reconversion of the hydrogen carrier into electrical power can begin, which currently includes uses such as heat generation through a Hydrogen boiler and use as fuel in FCEV. This is an ambitious goal for the company, but technical/economic evaluations have already been made and the first step will be implemented soon.

To conclude

The realization of this project represents a small but important step toward a greener and more sustainable future, without sacrificing the values of quality and reliability that have always distinguished ILT Energia-branded products. With an unwavering commitment to reducing environmental impact and adopting cutting-edge technologies, the company positions itself as a reliable partner in the transition to a greener and more sustainable economy for future generations.
